Cabinet meeting to be held in Silchar in July: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Today, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Cabinet held its 50th meeting in Tezpur. Out of them, a Cabinet meeting was held in Dhemaji marking a new beginning but shifting it from the state secretariat in Dispur. After Dhemaji, Bongaigaon became the second host of Cabinet meeting outside Guwahati, the third such Cabinet meeting was held in Haflong. And the 50th Cabinet meeting in Tezpur was the fourth away from the State headquarters.

These Cabinet meetings, according to chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, opens a window of opportunity for the local issues to be highlighted. In a Cabinet meeting, departments across all ministries remain present. The ministers too visit the Cabinet meeting, enabling instant solutions.

Today, CM Sarma announced that the next Cabinet meeting outside Guwahati will be held in Silchar in the month of July and in August, Kokrajhar will host the Cabinet meeting.

It is worth mentioning here that the Cabinet meeting in Silchar was supposed to be held on May 30, but due to the flash floods, the same had to be postponed.

“In the Cabinet meetings held so far during my tenure, we have taken 600 decisions. In today’s meeting, we have have created a Cabinet Committee under the leadership of Chandramohan Patowary. This committee will analyse the progress in implementation of the 600 decisions taken by the Cabinet so far. This committee will submit a report analysing the progress of the implementation, in the next Cabinet meeting,” said Himanta Biswa Sarma.
