Elderly man drowns in flood water in Silchar, had ventured out to get daily goods for family
In another horrific incident in the flood hit Silchar, an elderly person was found dead in the flood water. The deceased has been identified as Shibu Nath, a resident of 2nd Link Road.
Nath had ventured out of his house to shop for his family’s daily needs and was washed away by the heavy flowing currents. It is estimated that Nath went to the market yesterday, however, his body was recovered only today.

This comes close to devastating news a couple of days back from the Itkhola area of Silchar town when a man identified as Sunil Deb (51) was found drowned under flood water.
Silchar has been witnessing the worst flood in recent history. As per records, 147 villages have been affected in the Silchar Revenue Circle, while 160 villages are affected in Katigorah, 111 in Lakhipur, 91 in Sonai and 40 in Udharbond.
