In a tragic incident, a fire suddenly broke out in the Manipuri Basti of Krishnapur Bhairabgar GP of Borkhola at around two o’clock at night on Saturday. People of the village rescued a 72-year-old woman named Jalila Bibi Kazi who was unhurt, but Jalila’s 52-year-old daughter Sanatambi Bibi Kazi died on the spot due to severe burns.

The details of the event are still unclear but according to sources, a fire mysteriously broke out in the vicinity. When people noticed the flames, they raised a racket to alert people. The nearby police station and fire brigade was also informed.

Although people took prompt action to save both women, the corpse of Sanatambi Bibi was recovered at around 3 A.M. The body was then taken to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.

The representative of the former president of Krishnapur Bhairab Nagar GP Ebadullah Chowdhury, social activist Hafiz Ibrahim Ahmad Barabhuiya and Nurullah Kazi highlighted the details of the incident.

They said that the amount of damage is approximately one and a half lakh rupees, the family is very poor, everything in the house was destroyed and they also drew the attention of Cachar district administration and local MLA to manage some compensation for the family.
