Police detains Cachar College Principal Siddhartha Shankar Nath; Irregularities in Govt. recruitment test

What comes as big breaking news at this moment, Cachar College’s principal Dr. Siddhartha Shankar Nath has been detained by Cachar Police based on an FIR lodged by the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.

Assam Government is holding state-wide recruitment examinations to fill the 30,000 grade III  and IV posts. The Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has left no stone unturned to ensure that the examination is conducted with all fairness. In Barak Valley, centers are there in the Cachar district only and applicants are traveling from all around to give their best and get a government job. One such Centre is Cachar College.

Police have confirmed that Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, Rohan Jha spotted gross negligencies in the way the examination is conducted in Cachar College. Sources informed that Dr Swadesh Ranjan Das, Head of Philosophy, who has been trusted by the Principal of the College Dr. Siddhartha Shankar Nath went to the DC’s office today morning.

Soon after that, the Centre In charge, the Principal of the College, Dr. Nath was summoned by the deputy commissioner. Following his observations that the examination duty was not done as per directions, the DC lodged an FIR.

Cachar Police got to action and detained Principal Nath. He was interrogated at the Silchar Sadar Police Station. Now he has been sent to Hospital for a routine medical check-up. While the official word from the district Police is that the Principal has been “detained”, it is worth mentioning here that medical is done before the arrest of an accused.
