Official in Karimganj Sadar Circle Office Ranjan Goswami caught red-handed while taking bribe

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption has caught another government employee red-handed while accepting bribe money. The Anti-Corruption wing has successfully trapped an employee of the Karimganj Sadar Circle Office. He was later arrested after the testing liquid turned red. The arrested official is Ranjan Goswami, who was arrested from his office today afternoon.

The official arrested from the Circle Office has demanded money for the mutation of land-related documents. Special DGP of Assam Police, IPS GP Singh has tweeted about this case and said “Another one for the day. Sri Ranjan Goswami @ Chanchal, Lat Mondal Karimganj Sadar Circle has been trapped and arrested red-handed today by a team of Directorate Vigilance & Anti Corruption Assam while accepting demanded money for mutation of land of the complainant.”

After filing a complaint with the Anti-Corruption wing, the wing followed the standard operating procedures involved in tapping a bribery case. The money to be given as a bribe is first dusted with chemical powder and then handed over to the government official, who asks for the bribe.

After the official has accepted a bribe, the vigilance team intervenes and dips the corrupt official’s fingertips in a liquid mixed with various chemical solvents. When the liquid turns red, it proves that he has accepted the money. The red liquid is kept to be produced in the court along with the cash involved.
