“When the locals there tried to stop the Tapoban Nagar Durga Puja Committee, the members including the secretary and other top ones launched an attack. The locals were assaulted with bamboo sticks and beer bottles. Three residents had to rushed to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital and their condition is critical,” stated the complainant while speaking with the press.

He added, “They started screaming that they are Hindu. We are Hindus too but we don’t think what they were doing are signs of Hinduism. We condemned the act of this Puja committee. What is unfortunate is the fact that they are repeat offenders and do such activities every year. Yet, the administration does not take any action against them and allow to the lead procession throughout the heart of the town.”

As per available information, Abu Chand, Soueav Roy, Amit Deb, Raj Deb, Apu Baidya, Abhijit Roy got injured. Cachar Police had to
