Karimganj Police confiscates heroin worth Rs 4 crore; “Fourth bust in 15 days,” Additional SP
Yet another win in “War Against Drugs” mission for Karimganj Police. This evening, a police team from Patharkandi Police Station has successfully confiscated huge quantities of narcotic substance from a private four wheeler. The narcotic substance, suspected to be heroin, was recovered from soap cases and the market value is estimated to be around 4 crore rupees. Two drug peddlers were also apprehended in this connection. This is the fourth such recovery of suspected heroin in just 15 days.
Based on a specific input of Karimganj Additional SP, IPS Partha Pratim the drug bust was made today. A total of 37 soap cases were recovered from the Alto car bearing registration number AS10E 9032. The total weight of the confiscated heroin packets is 500 grams and the estimated market value is 4 crores.
Speaking with Barak Bulletin correspondent, IPS Partha Pratim said, “We just had an intel that the car loaded the drugs from somewhere in Nilambazar and was heading for Tripura. The vehicle number was also known to us, but no information about who was driving the vehicle or how many people were on board. From the information we had, we started naka checking in different areas along the route and successfully nabbed them at Sonakhira Check Post”.
The Additional SP also added that, this is the fourth such case of heroin recovery in just 15 days, starting from October 18. Total 334 soap cases were recovered and heroin weighing 4.3 kilograms confiscated. Karimganj Police is also setting new records when it comes to recovery of contrabands and drugs and has rightly earned praises from senior police officials of the state.
SI of Patharkandi Police Station, Taranga Patwory has informed that, there are two persons apprehended in this case. Both of them are residents of Nilambazar and they are Jamil Hussain and Hussain Ahmed. They have been arrested under NDPS Act.
