Business owner of Karimganj Madanmohan Akhra Road breathed a sign of relief today after a building fire was dozed off by the Fire Brigade’s prompt action. This incident happened in one of the busiest and most dense market streets of Karimganj. Two shops caught on fire during the noon and the locals noticed and intervened before the fire could spread any further. After the fire engines rushed to the spot, they dozed off the fire which could result in huge devastation if it lasted any longer.

According to the available information, the fire started in a tea stall in the Bazar, which belongs to Benu Deb. The source of the fire is said to be a gas cylinder leakage in the tea stall, which spread to the adjacent shop owned by Nirmal Dutta. After locals saw smoke coming out of the shops, they jumped into action and called the Fire and Emergency Services into action.

Two fire engines and a handful of firemen were successful in preventing the fire from spreading further shortly. There have been no reports of any injury loss to human life due to the fire, so far. Even though there has been damage to property and goods in the shops that were caught on fire.

The locals have alleged that even after several attempts the electricity department didn’t cut the power for the area and this fire could easily turn into an electrical fire, damaging life and property further.
