Colony of bees stings Cachar woman to death; CCTV footage showcases her struggle in keeping the bees away

Last Thursday, a dreaded bee attack took the life of a 55-year-old woman in the Sonabarighat area of Cachar. On December 8, while the 55-year-old woman, Mabaurun Nessa Barbhuiya was walking towards her home, the colony of bees attacked her. Many jumped to help her from the attack, but everything was in vain. At last, she had to jump into a pond to save herself.

This incident happened last Thursday at around 12 noon. All of a sudden, a colony of bees from a hive attacked her from left right, and center. She was in no position to save herself from the attack of these bees. Tried to shoo the bees away with her saree but kept getting stung.

Locals jumped to help her, but they were also attacked in return by the bees. Eventually, the 55-year-old woman had to jump into a nearby pond to get rid of the bees. But looking at her condition after the attack of the bees, she was rushed to the Sonabarighat Primary Health Centre.

After consulting the doctor there, they discharged her on the same day following treatment and medication. But with time her condition deteriorated and she breathed her last in the wee hours of Saturday morning. Following this incident, the locals demanded compensation to the bereaved family.
