BPL season six officially inaugurated on Tuesday with guests praising host SVCC

Although the tournament started on Monday, the Barak Premier League (BPL) season six was officially inaugurated on Tuesday morning. CGM of ONGC SC Kohli was present as the chief guest of the opening ceremony. He promised to stand by the Silchar Veteran Cricketers Club in organising the Barak Premier League T20 cricket in the future as well and said, “BPL is a very big event. National and foreign teams and top cricketers participate in this tournament. The involvement of the corporation in such an event is an added bonus.” According to him, sports help the new generation usher new heights.

Co-sponsor Pediatrician Dr. Priyanka Dev expressed her satisfaction in organising the event in memory of her late father Pankaj Dev and congratulated the participating teams in advance.

Silchar DSA Vice President (Administration) Dr. Siddharth Bhattacharjee praised the initiative of Veteran Club in organising BPL and said, “Veteran Club was the first to organize BPL at home ground. This is its sixth edition. Big players have participated in it in the past years. This time too will not be an exception. The Veteran Club is not only focused on cricket. They are also involved in football, social activities and other events.”

In the opening speech, Vice President of the club Aniruddha Laskar explained the purpose of the tournament. Poonam Dhar performed Ganesh Bandana dance at the beginning of the ceremony. Sayanika Roy performed opening dance. Vice President Siddhath Bhattacharjee hosted the DSA’s flag while Vice President Aniruddha Laskar hosted the Club’s flag. After releasing gas balloons in the sky, the guests were introduced to the players of the two rival teams in the first match of the second day. CMHR of ONGC Somnath Choudhury, artist Paul Choudhury, Partha Pratim Ghosh were also present in the opening ceremony. They were welcomed by the members of the host club.
