Father of murdered 8-year-old alleges Police inaction despite intimation; SP himself meets family, assures action

The murder of an eight-year-old has shocked the people of Silchar. CCTV footage captured that a man identified as Appu Mazumdar rushed to the Ayan Manjur Barbuiya (8 years), held him by his throat, and started stabbing him. The innocent kid had no idea how to react. The busy road in broad daylight witnessed a cold-blooded murder.

The incident took place at Madhurbond Water Works Road. Manjurul Barbhuiya and Alauddin had a tussle going on between themselves, allegedly, over a land dispute. According to Manjurul Barbhuiya, he was threatened by Allauddin and his three sons – Appu, Pappu and Bappu. Today, it was the execution of the threats.

The kid was rushed to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) and reported to the Casualty Department. From there, he was shifted to the Pediatric ICU. He was kept in ventilation for a while and at 2:50 pm, the young boy was declared dead.

Speaking to reporters after the incident Manjurul Barbhuiya, father of the deceased, said, “I cried for help to the CM and even went to the SP begging him to provide me and my son with security. I even did a press meet. The police registered my case but didn’t provide me with security. Sons of Alauddin named Apu, Bappu and Pappu attacked me daily in various ways. Today they came and stabbed my son. It is all over.”

The Police are currently investigating the incident and have arrested the main accused named Apu Majumdar. The investigation is still going on to nab the other culprits. Taking cognizance of the incident Cachar SP Numal Mahatta himself visited the family of the deceased. He is personally looking into the investigation considering the gravity of the situation.

“It is very unfortunate that an 8-year-old minor was stabbed by a miscreant. He was later admitted to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. We started the investigation and arrested the primary accused involved in the incident before he tried to escape. The legal proceedings are going on currently. The matter is currently under investigation but as per our knowledge there was an old dispute between the two parties involved.”

Cachar SP, however, did not comment on the allegations pressed by the father on the Police. “The family is in shock. They have suffered an irreparable loss. Let the family mourn in peace at this stage. The investigation will parallelly proceed and actions will be taken against the culprits.

Meanwhile, the locals have identified arrested Appu Mazumdar as a member of the Political Party Aam Aadmi Party. In his Facebook Profile, Appu Mazumdar describes himself as the Joined Secretary of, Cachar Youth Wing, Aam Aadmi Party. He is even running a campaign “Join the revolution” through his profile where he urges people to join AAP by giving a missed call to a mentioned number.
