Sajib Uddin Majumdar arrested in connection with the murder of 8-year-old Ayan, three accused still absconding

Another man has been arrested in connection with the murder of 8-year-old boy Ayan Manjur. The name of the arrested man is Sajjib Uddin Majumdar.

The police arrested him at night from Cachar’s Salchapra. He was on the run after Ayan was murdered. Sajjib was one of the accused in the FIR filed by Ayan’s father. Besides, the other accused Hassan Laskar, Bappu Majumder, Pappu Majumder are still absconding.

It maybe mentioned that on March 11 an 8-year-old boy named Ayan Majumdar was stabbed to death by a youth named Apu Majumder with a knife. After the incident, Police arrested the murderer Appu Majumdar. Now they have arrested Sajib Uddin based on the FIR of Ayan’s father. The killing took place over a land dispute.

Update: Cachar SP Numal Mahatta has issued a statement in this regard in the official bulletin. He stated, “In pursuance of the investigation of Silchar PS Case no. 491/23 u/s 120B/302 IPC, today another co-accused namely Sajibuddin Mazumdar, 52 years of Water Works road, Silchar, Silchar alleged to be involved in the conspiracy of the incident that occurred on 11/03/2023 has been apprehended from Salchapra who was absconding after the incident. Later on, he was arrested in the instant case and taken into in 3 days police remand as allowed by Hon’ble court. Further investigation has been on.”
