The illegal consignments of Burmese Areca Nuts are believed to have been shipped from Mizoram to various parts of India to supply Guthka factories via Cachar district. The police suspect that international rackets from Indonesia are the masterminds behind this illegal transportation.

It is important to note that the illegal transportation of Burmese Areca Nuts not only fuels the underground market but also causes significant financial losses to the government. By bypassing the taxation system, the government loses a significant amount of revenue that it could have generated had the nuts been transported legally. Therefore, it is crucial that such illegal activities are identified and curbed to prevent further financial losses to the government.
