Massive fire in Silchar burns 8 houses, locals allege negligence by electricity department as the cause
A terrible fire broke out at Ramnagar, Silchar in which eight houses got burnt down. The fire took a terrible turn when it engulfed a cylinder and it exploded. It has been told that the fire was caused by the negligence of the electricity department.
As per reports, the fire broke out in the house of Dayanand Singh of Khelma village in Ramnagar this evening. Instantly, the flames engulfed the entire area and the fire spread to several nearby houses. Four fire brigade vehicles rushed to the scene but eight houses with all furniture were completely burnt down by that time. The locals have alleged that the fire broke out due to the negligence of electricity department.
The locals informed that there was no electricity in the area for the past 24 hours due to a storm. As the electricity was restored in the area, the voltage doubled and the electronic items in the houses started exploding. The locals informed the electricity department regarding the incident but the electricity department did not pay any attention to it. As a result a fire broke out in the house of Dayanand Singh when the lights exploded. The damage caused by the fire is estimated to be around Rs 30 lakhs.
