Cachar Police busts bike theft gang, Arrests 8 thieves including AIUDF leader
Many bike theft gangs are active in the state which are stealing bikes almost everyday. However, the police is continuing their operations against such gangs. In one such operation, 8 members of a bike theft gang including an AIUDF leader was arrested. The Police also recovered 20 stolen two wheelers from them. The stolen two wheelers are lined up in rows at Silchar Sadar Police Station making it appear like a bike showroom.
Last night Cachar Police conducted an operation and seized all the stolen two wheelers from various parts of the district. It included 9 scooties and 11 bikes. They also arrested 8 thieves involved in the vehicle theft gang. The arrested thieves were identified as AIUDF leader Nanda Singh, Shakil Laskar, Dilwar Hussain, Abjal Hussain, Abdul Hussain, Ranjit Ravidas, Yousuf Ali and Rebul Uddin. The arrested persons are involved in bike theft gang active in Barak Valley, Manipur and Mizoram as per Cachar SP Numal Mahatta.
It has been known that the AIUDF leader Nanda Singh arrested on charges of bike theft is a resident of Rangpur, Silchar. He contested the 2016 Assembly elections from Udharbond constituency as an AIUDF candidate.
