Congress workers clash with Police in Karimganj over delimitation rally

Karimganj town witnessed a fierce clash today as a Congress rally organised by Nagorik Surokkha Joutho Mancha turned hostile while protesting against the ongoing delimitation process. The rally, led by MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha, commenced from the District Congress Office but was met with obstruction from the police, leading to a confrontation between the Congress workers and law enforcement authorities. The situation escalated rapidly, resulting in the deployment of water cannons by the police in an attempt to disperse the crowd.

Amid the chaos, MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha, a prominent figure leading the rally, was detained by the police, alongside several other protestors. Startling scenes emerged as Dey Purkayastha was seen chanting anti-government slogans while being half-naked inside the Police Station, highlighting the intensity of emotions involved in the protest.
