Cachar Police arrests former Tarapur GP Secretary for a scam in Zila Parishad worth Rs 11 lakh
Amitav Nath, the former Secretary of Tarapur Gram Panchayat (GP) and current GP Secretary of Bagha Bazar under Narshingpur Block, found himself in legal trouble as he was arrested by Cachar Police for his involvement in a scam related to funds allocated during the 14th Finance Commission.
The ordeal began when an anonymous complaint was submitted to the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption in Assam, which subsequently forwarded the grievance to the District Commissioner for investigation. CEO of Cachar Zila Parishad, Ranajit Kumar Laskar, informed that a committee was formed immediately after that to delve into the matter.
The investigative committee discovered substantial evidence supporting the allegations against Amitav Nath. A financial inconsistency amounting to Rs 11 lakh was uncovered, which pointed directly to the accused GP Secretary. In light of these findings, CEO Laskar officially filed an FIR with the Silchar Police Station.
Silchar Police acted swiftly upon receiving the FIR, resulting in the arrest of Amitav Nath. This arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation, and the accused is expected to face legal proceedings related to the financial irregularities.
