Silchar MLA’s Fortuner collides with Innova in Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah’s Convoy; No Injuries reported
A minor mishap occurred in Silchar yesterday as the convoy of Cabinet Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah made its way through the bustling streets of Tarapur. While two vehicles within the convoy collided, it is fortunate that no injuries were sustained during the incident.
The collision involved two prominent vehicles: a brand-new Fortuner, owned by Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, and an Innova carrying Zila Parishad Chairman Amitava Rai and Cachar District President of the party Bimalendu Roy.
As per established protocol, Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty was seated in the minister’s car, accompanied by fellow MLAs Lakhipur MLA Kaushik Rai and Patharkandi MLA Krishnendu Paul. Chakraborty’s Fortuner was occupied by Kanad Purkayastha.
Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted the incident, explaining that the convoy was forced to come to an abrupt halt due to an unexpected obstruction. At the time of the collision, Silchar MLA’s Fortuner was positioned sixth in the convoy, while Amitava Rai’s Innova was fifth.
Regrettably, the Fortuner couldn’t brake in time, leading to a collision with the rear end of the Innova. Fortunately, despite the impact, no injuries were reported among the political leaders on board any of the vehicles.
Sources within the BJP Party confirmed that the damage resulting from the collision was confined solely to the vehicles involved. Both cars sustained noticeable damage in the accident.
The convoy continued its journey towards Hailakandi after Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah surveyed the preparations made for the upcoming visit of the Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
