Man robbed by dacoits on Silchar-Kalain road, Identifies one suspect
In a shocking incident that unfolded on the night of September 23, a gang of seven armed bandits robbed a man of 20,000 rupees and his mobile at Burunga located on the Silchar-Kalain road. Abjal Hussain Tapadar, a resident of Bhairabnagar, had traveled to Silchar for some work and was on his way back home when the harrowing ordeal occurred at around 10 pm.
According to Abjal’s statement, his car was impeded by a group of dacoits at Burunga rail gate, who menacingly brandished their weapons, forcing him to part with his hard-earned money. His niece, who was also present in the car, was terrorised by the criminals. As more people rushed to the scene, it prompted the dacoits to make a hasty retreat.
Abjal managed to identify one of the dacoits as Ikbal Hussain, hailing from Jalgram, Kalain. In response to this grave incident, he promptly filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Kalain Police Station. In his FIR report, he accused Ikbal and six other unidentified assailants of committing the robbery.
Disturbingly, Abjal also has alleged in his FIR that Burunga has become a hotbed for frequent robberies, causing concern among the local residents.
