Key-loss fury unleashes tragedy in Katigorah as drunk lorry driver runs over woman

In a horrifying incident that unfolded in the Hilara area of ​​Burunga Part II block under Katigorah Assembly Constituency, a woman named Moyna Ghatowar (55) lost her life when a lorry driver, identified as Bipul Dey, in a fit of rage, ran over her with his vehicle. The incident occurred after Dey, who was reportedly in an inebriated state, lost the key of his lorry.

According to reports, Dey engaged in a heated argument with locals while searching for his lost key. Upon finding it, he callously rammed the lorry, numbered ML 05G 3217, into Moyna Ghatowar’s house, tragically resulting in her immediate death.

The Katigorah Circle Magistrate, accompanied by Additional SP Kalyan Kumar Das, and the officers from Katigorah and Kalain OC, along with IC of Bihara Police Outpost, swiftly arrived at the scene in response to the distressing news. A substantial police force was deployed to restore order, and the deceased’s body was transported to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.

After the detention of Bipul Dey and his father, the situation gradually calmed down. However, amidst the sombre aftermath, locals voiced their demand for financial assistance, urging a sum of ten lakh rupees be provided to Moyna Ghatowar’s grieving family.
