Unrest in Silchar DSA: Joint Vice President Mridul Mazumdar Resigns, Treasurer Buddhadeb Choudhury May Step Down Soon
The truth cannot be concealed for long. Despite attempts to keep a lid on internal disputes, the historical Silchar District Sports Association (DSA) committee seems to be proving this once again.
Ever since taking charge of the current committee’s responsibilities, conflicts have been surfacing one after another. The headlines are dominated by Silchar DSA due to various missteps. Even those who formed this committee now assert with vigor, ‘All is not well!’ But the real truth is that maintaining peace for an extended period is nearly impossible.
Troubles have been brewing within the organization since the assumption of the current committee’s responsibilities. Disputes, particularly between Secretary Atanu Bhattacharya and Ground Secretary Kaushik Roy, have escalated. This dispute has created a ripple effect, extending far and wide. Despite seeking justice through legal channels, the Secretary has conveyed his grievances to the President in writing, but a resolution is yet to be reached.
Those who were once united under the DSA banner for the development of sports are now embroiled in internal conflicts. Allegations of financial misconduct against each other have added to the chaos. Arguments over payments and accusations of financial impropriety have led to a peak in unrest within the organization. Secretary Atanu Bhattacharya, along with Ground Secretary Kaushik Roy, is at the center of this dispute.
The situation has reached such a point that Joint-Vice President Nilava (Mridul) Majumdar has resigned from his position, expressing his dissatisfaction. On Wednesday afternoon, he handed over his resignation letter to President Shibabrata Datta.
However, the turmoil may not end here. Treasurer Buddhadeb Choudhury may also step down from his position in the coming days. According to a source within the organization, the Treasurer may relinquish his duties soon. He has also faced allegations of financial misconduct from a faction within the organization. Buddhadeb Babu seems to have not weathered the storm gracefully, with claims that he purchased goods worth more than a lakh rupees from his preferred store.
The matter does not conclude here. Several payments by the organization, including roadwork related to the stadium, have come under scrutiny by its officials. Secret meetings are being held to prepare a game plan on how to remove Secretary Atanu. Unfortunately, all attempts to address the situation have failed for Secretary Atanu.
Despite this, he faces a long list of allegations against him. This is the current state of the Silchar DSA committee. And this is the reality of sports development in Silchar!
