“I wanted to do something different,” Cachar’s Mou Das after getting into India Book of Records for painting on Chira
In a remarkable feat of creativity and dedication, Mou Das from Salganga area of Udharbond in Cachar district, Assam, has earned a coveted place in the India Book of Records for his unique artistic endeavor. Das has painted the national flags of 30 countries on flattened rice flakes, locally known as Chira in Eastern India, Chiwda in the West, and Poha in most parts of the country.
Das, driven by the desire to explore new artistic avenues, embarked on this extraordinary project, using flattened rice as his canvas. The intricacy and delicacy of painting national flags on such a surface showcase not only his artistic prowess but also his commitment to pushing the boundaries of conventional art.
“When the urge for doing something different struck me, I thought about how I could combine my love for art with something that reflects the diversity of the world,” Das said. “That’s when the idea of painting national flags on flattened rice came to me.”
What started as an experimental project soon turned into a record-breaking achievement. Das discovered that he could complete painting one flag in approximately 30 minutes, showcasing not only his artistic skills but also her efficiency in executing this unconventional art form.
To validate his achievement, Das shared videos and images of her unique creations with the India Book of Records. In response to his submission, she received an email confirming her selection for this prestigious recognition. On November 15, she was honored with medals and other mementos, acknowledging her outstanding contribution to the world of art.
“I am thrilled to be a part of the India Book of Records. It’s a validation of my efforts and encourages me to continue learning and experimenting in the field of arts,” Das expressed.
