Cachar Police Conducts Successful Raids, Seizes Narcotics Worth Significant Value

In a decisive move against illegal narcotics trafficking, the Cachar Police, under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta, orchestrated two targeted raids resulting in the confiscation of substantial contraband substances.

In a press statement released by the SP of Cachar, it was disclosed that the first operation transpired on February 27th, 2023, at approximately 3 pm. Acting on intelligence regarding the transportation of suspected contrabands along Kalain Road, law enforcement officials intercepted a black Tata Harrier bearing registration plate AS-11Z-2322 in front of the Arunachal Outpost.

He added a meticulous search of the vehicle yielded the discovery of 15 plastic soap cases believed to contain heroin. Two individuals, identified as Abul Hussain Mazumder and Ruhul Amin Mazumder, both residents of Rajghat in the Dholai area of Cachar, were apprehended in connection with the illicit substances. The seized items have been sent for forensic analysis, and legal proceedings against the accused are underway.

Building upon their momentum, the Cachar Police, in collaboration with the Assam Rifles, launched another operation on the very next day. Acting on actionable intelligence, law enforcement authorities descended upon the Kashipur area within the jurisdiction of Silchar Police Station. During the operation, officers seized 18 soapboxes containing an orange-colored powdery substance suspected to be heroin.

The individual in possession of the narcotics, identified as Rajan Ahmed Barbhuiya, a resident of Kashipur PT-II, PS-Silchar, was promptly apprehended. Independent witnesses were present during the seizure, ensuring transparency in the operation. The seized narcotics, weighing approximately 215.74 grams, represent a significant blow to the illegal drug trade in the region.
