Karimganj Police Confiscates Truck Full of Suspected Marijuana; Takes 2 In Custody

A lorry traveling from Tripura to Haryana, supposedly loaded with rubber, was discovered to be carrying illegal marijuana instead. The interception took place as the lorry passed through Karimganj district of Assam, specifically at the Bajarichera Police Station’s Churaibari Watch Post.

On Tuesday, March 05, at approximately 2:30 pm, vigilant officials at the Churaibari Watch Post thoroughly inspected the lorry truck. A team led by the gate in charge conducted a meticulous search of the vehicle and uncovered bags filled with illegal marijuana concealed under the guise of transporting rubber.

The driver, Balaveer Singh, and the co-driver, Vijay Kumar, both hailing from Punjab, were apprehended in connection with the case. Police authorities are currently conducting investigations into the matter. The public has commended the vigilant act that led to the successful seizure of the illegal substance.

In the meantime, concerns have been raised over the credibility of the Tripura Police as the same vehicle managed to bypass as many as 20 checkpoints within the state of Tripura itself before being intercepted in Karimganj.
