Katigorah Bribe Syndicate Busted: Two Government Officials Arrested

In a major breakthrough, two government officials from the Cachar district have been arrested on charges of bribery. Sahadat Hussain, a Lat Mandal, and Manoj Adhikari, a Kanungo from the Katigorah Circle Office, were apprehended after being caught accepting bribes within their office premises.

The arrests come after videos and news reports surfaced online showing the officials accepting bribes for land-related work. The viral footage prompted a public outcry and led the Cachar district administration to launch an investigation. The findings from this inquiry confirmed the officials’ involvement in corrupt activities, resulting in the launch of an enquiry by the office of the District Commissioner.

The enquiry was concluded today where the magistrates found the two officials of the Katigorah Circle Office to be guilty of corruption. Filing corruption charges on them an FIR was launched.

Following the FIR, Sahadat Hussain and Manoj Adhikari were arrested from the District Commissioner’s office in Silchar. SP Cachar, Numal Mahatta confirmed Barak Bulletin of these arrests. Subsequently Adhikari and Hussain were transferred to the Sadar Police Station before being moved to Katigorah Police Station, where they are currently detained.
