Two Bangladeshi Nationals Detained by Assam Police at Badarpur Railway Station
Assam Police successfully detained two Bangladeshi nationals at Badarpur Railway Station last night. The individuals, identified as 36-year-old Masum Khan, son of Rustam Khan from Modelganj Police Station in Bangladesh, and 15-year-old Sonia Akhtar, daughter of Selim Uddin from Dhaka, were intercepted while attempting to enter India.
The detained pair had reportedly entered India via the Madhupur-Agartala route and were en route to Bengaluru. The Border Security Force (BSF) assisted Assam Police in apprehending them. Following their detention, the two individuals were promptly sent back across the border.
The Assam Police have emphasised their commitment to preventing illegal entry into the country. The authorities are determined to maintain strict vigilance to ensure that no foreign nationals illegally enter Assam.
In a related development, during a press meet today, in Silchar, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed the issue of illegal infiltration from Bangladesh. He confirmed that only Muslims have been entering Assam illegally and reassured the public that measures are being taken to address the situation.
