Dholai By-polls: Employees Not To Leave District, Medical Board Formed at SMCH For Exemptions
Ahead of the much-anticipated Bye-Election for the LA-11 Dholai (S/C) Constituency, slated for November 13, 2024, the District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, Mridul Yadav, has issued a strict directive to district employees. This order, aimed at ensuring the smooth and efficient conduct of the electoral process, comes after the Election Commission of India officially announced the polling date.
As per the latest order (No. CEL/PER/Bye-Election/2024/1/2 dated 18/10/2024), employees from various sectors, including public sector units, state PSUs, banks, educational institutions, and other organizations within the district, are required to stay within Cachar district limits unless they have prior approval to leave. This directive is intended to ensure adequate personnel for election-related duties and will remain effective until the election process is concluded on November 23, 2024, when the counting of votes will take place.
In this regard, a specialised Medical Board has been established at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) to evaluate exemption requests from election duties. The Board, led by Principal cum Chief Superintendent Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, consists of 22 specialist doctors. It will meet twice a week—on Tuesdays and Fridays, from 11 AM to 2 PM—at the SMCH Administrative Building’s Conference Hall. This initiative aims to streamline medical evaluations and handle exemption applications efficiently in line with Cachar district’s election requirements.
All employees are urged to cooperate fully in ensuring a fair and hassle-free election in the district.
