Barak Valley to Witness a New Era of Governance with Dedicated Development Department
In a landmark decision yesterday during a cabinet meeting, aimed at fostering equitable growth and bringing governance closer to the people, the state cabinet has approved the creation of the Barak Valley Development Department. This development comes the same day two MLAs of Barak, Kaushik Rai (Lakhipur) and Krishnendu Paul (Patherkandi) took oath as cabinet ministers.
The new department is set to prioritise the holistic development of the Cachar, Sribhumi, and Hailakandi districts, with a focus on expediting infrastructure projects and creating employment opportunities.
The initiative is expected to provide a much-needed boost to the region by facilitating seamless communication between the government and locals, ensuring that administrative services are delivered efficiently to the citizens’ doorsteps.
Furthermore, the department will generate job opportunities, particularly for support staff, enhancing livelihoods and contributing to the overall economic growth of the Barak Valley. This decision is being lauded as a progressive step towards addressing the unique challenges and aspirations of the region being far away from the state capital.
With this move, the government aims to transform the Barak Valley into a hub of development and progress, ensuring no section of society is left behind.
