Sribhumi: Chinese-Made Drone Found Near India-Bangladesh Border, SP says “Suspicious”

A suspicious drone was discovered near the India-Bangladesh border in Sribhumi this afternoon amid rising tension between India and Pakistan. This raised concerns about its origin and purpose.

Today a drone, reportedly of Chinese make, was found in the Chorakuri area of Sribhumi, near the Kusiyara River. Local authorities were alerted, and an investigation was launched. Initial reports suggest that the drone may have crossed the border with malicious intent, but this is yet to be confirmed.

Speaking to Barak Bulletin, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Sribhumi, Partha Pratim Das, confirmed that the drone was indeed of Chinese origin. “A normal drone with a camera was found in the border area of Sribhumi today near the Kusiyara River. The initial theories are that it could be from across the border with some malevolent intention although it is yet to be confirmed,” SP Das stated.

He further added, “As of now, we could ascertain that it was Chinese-made. Along the border area, drones are not permitted to fly, and the locals from the other side of the border also don’t fly drones, so finding this drone here is suspicious. The investigation on this matter is ongoing, so we could tell more about the origin and intention behind this drone later.”

The discovery of the drone comes at a time of heightened tension in India. Following the Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir, the Indian military retaliated at 1:44 a.m., today by targeting nine terrorist camps within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) under an operation named Operation Sindoor.

While the nation, including Barak Valley, has been celebrating the success of Operation Sindoor, the sighting of a suspicious drone has sparked fresh concerns. Although Bangladesh was created with India’s support, its recent diplomatic stance has raised serious questions. The country’s interim Prime Minister recently visited China and made statements that seemed hostile towards Northeastern India.

Given Bangladesh’s growing closeness with Pakistan and its troubling remarks about the region, the presence of an unidentified drone has become even more worrying. Authorities are now investigating the drone’s origin.
