
Cachar Police Seize Heroin Worth Over Rs. 1.2 Crore In Two Separate Operations
In a major crackdown on the drug network, Cachar Police seized a total of 235 grams of suspected heroin valued at around Rs. 1.2 crore in two separate operations conducted on Thursday (November 6) under the Joypur and Silchar Police Stations.
In the first operation at Kamranga Part I under Joypur Police Station, police apprehended one person identified as Gill Hussain Laskar (38), son of Sukur Ali Laskar, a resident of Shadhin Bazar under Sonai Police Station. During the search, police recovered 10 soap cases containing 155 grams of suspected heroin and a mobile phone from his possession.
Acting on another input later in the evening, a team of Cachar Police conducted a raid at Sonabarighat Bypass, Silchar, around 7:30 PM. Two persons were apprehended—Abidul Alim Laskar (32), son of Faizul Haque Laskar, and Jabir Ahmed Laskar (35), son of Sams Uddin Laskar, both residents of Dhanipur under Sonai Police Station. The police recovered six soap boxes containing about 80 grams of suspected heroin and two mobile handsets from their possession.
Speaking about the successful operations, Additional SP (Cachar) Subrata Sen said, “Cachar Police have achieved yet another success in its continued operation against drugs. Yesterday we held two operations—first at Kamranga under Joypur PS, where we seized 10 soap cases concealing heroin. In the second operation at Sonabarighat, we arrested two more with 80 grams of heroin.”
“Two separate FIRs have been lodged, and further investigations are underway,” the officer added.
Police estimate the total seized heroin to be worth approximately Rs. 1.2 crore in the black market.
