IPS Officer Partha Sarathi Mahanta Inspires Students at Assam University Interactive Session
An interactive session featuring IPS officer Partha Sarathi Mahanta, Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, was held on November 12, 2025, at the Bipin Chandra Paul Auditorium, Assam University, Silchar. The event, jointly organised by the War Museum Committee and the Centre for Social Inclusion and Media Dynamics, aimed to inspire students through discussions on leadership, discipline, and public service.
The session began with a warm welcome and felicitation of the guests by university officials. Also present at the event were Numal Mahatta, SSP of Kokrajhar, and Partha Protim Das, SSP of Cachar, along with other police personnel. Dr Prodosh Kiran Nath, Registrar of Assam University, expressed gratitude to the speakers for their efforts in engaging with the young minds.
Delivering his lecture on the theme “The Eternal Classroom: Education, Learning and the Art of Becoming,” Mahanta urged students to embrace lifelong learning and ethical values. Drawing from his professional journey, he shared insights on perseverance, integrity, and the importance of humility in leadership.
During the interaction, Mahanta fielded several questions from students on personality development, public speaking, life in the police force, and mental health awareness. Addressing a question on leadership, he remarked, “A leader should not feel that he has become a leader. He or she should feel like a part of the same team they are leading and act as a coordinator. The moment one starts feeling they have become a leader, that’s when leadership ends.”
The event saw participation from over 270 students across various departments, along with faculty members and the Vice Chancellor. The session concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating Mahanta’s motivational insights and the university’s initiative in facilitating such a meaningful interaction.
The program was widely lauded for its inspirational tone and its emphasis on youth development and public service values.
