Katigorah BJP Youth Leader Dies by Suicide, Allegedly Due to Debt Pressure

A tragic incident has shaken Katigorah, Cachar, as BJP Katigorah Mandal Yuva Morcha president Satyajit Das (24) died by suicide late on Sunday night (November 30). Satyajit, a resident of Katirail village, had assumed charge of the Yuva Morcha only a month ago.

According to family statements recorded in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, Satyajit had been under financial stress and had taken loans from multiple sources. His brother revealed that he was unable to bear the pressure from lenders, which may have pushed him towards the extreme step.

On the day of the incident, their mother had gone to attend a wedding function, leaving Satyajit alone at home. It is during this time that he ended his life by hanging.

His brother further stated that earlier in the morning, a shopkeeper had asked Satyajit to repay his dues, to which he reportedly replied that he would commit suicide as he was unable to clear the debt. The shopkeeper then allegedly informed Satyajit’s brother about the statement, but help came too late.

On receiving information, Katigorah Police and a forensic team reached the spot and recovered the body. In the presence of an Executive Magistrate, Satyajit’s dead body was sent to Silchar Medical College & Hospital for post-mortem.

The sudden death has left BJP workers and locals in shock, while the exact circumstances that led to the tragedy remain under investigation.
