Barak Carnival 2025 to Debut on December 21 at Silchar Gandhi Mela Ground
The Barak Carnival 2025 is set to be organised for the first time at the Gandhi Mela Ground in Silchar on December 21, bringing together music, food, culture and community participation in a grand celebration.
At a press conference held on Friday at the Dasharupak office on Ullas Kar Dutta Sarani, the organisers announced that the carnival will begin on December 21 and conclude at 10 PM. The colourful and vibrant event is being hosted by Barak Events.
The organisers said, “While there are many music and cultural fests in other places around us, like Jatinga Fest, Hornbill, Falcon Fest and many others alike, these fests generate employment as well as tourism, while entertaining the youths and enthusiasts. This year is our first event and we wish to take it forward for the long term and create a legacy. This year we will have 10 cultural dance performances from 10 different communities, traditional cuisine stalls, and a musical act in the evening with four artistes in the line-up, along with local performers. We also have Silchar Municipal Corporation as our civic partner, and together we shall raise awareness and spread the message of cleanliness through a drama.”
The festival will feature live music performances, cultural dances, an animation and cosplay zone, tattoo art, awareness stalls and a total of 20 themed stalls. Ten communities from the valley will showcase their cultural heritage during the programme.
Adding to the event’s attractions will be a motorcycle parade, along with evening performances by Guwahati’s Suzonn, Nagaland’s Fifth Note, Leo Boys from Shillong, local band DICHROMATIX, and renowned artiste Vedika Sinha.
