Cachar Police Recover 388 Grams of Heroin from a Guwahati-bound Vehicle’s Secret Chamber

Cachar Police on Tuesday evening (December 16) carried out an anti-narcotics operation at the Dhudhpatil area under Silchar Police Station, leading to the seizure of 388 grams of heroin, concealed inside a secret chamber of a vehicle and the arrest of three persons.

During the operation, police intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number MZ-02C-1553, which was allegedly travelling from Mizoram towards Guwahati. Upon searching the vehicle, officers recovered 30 soap boxes containing heroin from a specially designed secret chamber. The total weight of the seized contraband was 388 grams. The three accused have been identified as Dildar Hussain (25), Nazrul Hussein (20) and Jasim Uddin (25), all residents of Bhanga Bazar under Dholai Police Station.


Confirming the development, SSP Cachar Partha Protim Das said, “Based on specific source inputs, we set up a naka point in the Dhudhpatil area and intercepted the vehicle in the evening. During the search, narcotic substances concealed in soap boxes were recovered from a hidden chamber. Preliminary investigation indicates that the consignment was being transported to Guwahati, and further investigation will be carried out to establish forward and backward linkages.”

Legal action has been initiated under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, and police are continuing their probe to identify other persons involved in the narcotics network.
