Motorcycle Crash in Silchar-Aizwal National Highway: One Dead, Two Seriously Injured

A horrific road accident occurred on the Silchar–Aizawl National Highway (NH-306) in front of Oriental School at Rajghat under the Dholai Assembly constituency on Sunday evening (December 28), claiming the life of the man riding on the bike and leaving two others critically injured.

According to reports, at around 7:30 PM on Sunday, a motorcycle travelling from Hawaithang towards Bhagabazar lost control while attempting to overtake an auto-rickshaw near Oriental School. Eyewitnesses said the motorcycle (AS 11 AD 4105) was moving at a very high speed. After losing control, the bike first rammed into the boundary wall of a house beside the road and then crashed into an electric pole with great force. As a result, all three on the bike were thrown onto the road.

Soon after the accident, locals rushed to the spot and rescued the three seriously injured youths, taking them to the Dholai Primary Health Centre. On arrival, the attending doctor declared one of them dead. As the condition of the other two was critical, they were referred to Silchar Medical College and Hospital.

The deceased and the injured are reportedly residents of the Hawaithang Sachin Dokan area in South Dholai under the Dholai police station area limits. However, their identities could not be confirmed at the time of filing this report.

On receiving information, Dholai police reached the spot and launched an investigation. The accident-hit motorcycle has been taken into police custody.
