No-Fly Zone, Parking Restrictions Announced Ahead Of PM Modi’s March 14 Visit To Silchar

Ahead of the proposed visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Cachar on March 14, the district administration has imposed temporary restrictions, including a No-Fly Zone across the entire district and No-Parking zones along key routes to ensure security and smooth movement during the VVIP programme.

In an order issued on Monday, District Magistrate of Cachar, Aayush Garg, invoked Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, following security inputs from the Cachar police.

According to the order, the entire Cachar district will remain a No-Fly Zone from March 10 to March 15, 2026, prohibiting the operation of drones, UAVs, Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), paragliders and microlight aircraft. Authorities said the measure is necessary due to the sensitive security arrangements required for the Prime Minister’s visit. Any exception will require prior written permission from the competent authority after security clearance.

In a separate directive, the district administration has also declared certain stretches in Silchar as No-Parking Zones from March 10 to March 14 to ensure uninterrupted vehicular movement for the VVIP convoy.

The restrictions will apply along the routes from ISBT Point to Mangal Pandey Statue Point (Silchar Bypass–Hailakandi Road junction) and from ISBT Point to the ONGC Campus at Srikona.

Officials said the Prime Minister’s programme will be held at Budhurail, Ambicapur Part-III along the Silchar Bypass.

The administration warned that violations of the prohibitory orders will attract legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Authorities have appealed to residents, drone operators and vehicle owners to cooperate with the restrictions so that the Prime Minister’s visit can be conducted peacefully and smoothly.

This is stated in a press release issued by the Regional Office of Information and Public Relations, Barak Valley Zone, Silchar, Assam.
