Poll Shock for BJP: Decorators Boycott Silchar Candidate Rajdeep Roy Over ‘Unpaid Dues Since 2018
As the poll fever intensifies in Assam, a big revelation about BJP’s Silchar candidate Rajdeep Roy has rocked the Bharatiya Janata Party. The Event Decorators Welfare Association, Cachar District Committee, has reportedly suspended all event-related services for BJP’s Silchar LAC candidate Dr Rajdeep Roy, citing long-pending payments, as per an official letter dated March 20, 2026.
In the letter addressed to the BJP Cachar District President, the association stated that its members would not undertake any event work for Dr Roy during the ongoing election period until all outstanding dues are cleared in full. The association also sought the party’s intervention to settle the pending amount at the earliest.
Speaking to Barak Bulletin, Association President Joy Barida said the dues have allegedly remained unpaid since 2018, linked to the opening ceremony of Jeevan Jyoti Institute of Medical Sciences, a private hospital owned by Dr Rajdeep Roy.
Secretary Deepjoy Roy also confirmed that there are multiple payment that are pending since Dr Roy’s tenure as Member of Parliament. When asked about the amount, he declined to disclose a figure, stating that multiple stakeholders were involved. However, he added that the association would boycott any event or campaign programme organised by Dr Rajdeep Roy, except for his nomination event on March 23, following a request from the BJP Cachar District Committee and General Secretary Amitabh Rai.
Meanwhile, a source close to the development claimed that the pending dues could exceed Rs 1 crore, accumulated over the last 7–8 years.
Dr Rajdeep Roy served as the Member of Parliament from Silchar between 2019 and 2024. The Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded him as its candidate for the Silchar Legislative Assembly Constituency in the upcoming Assam Assembly elections scheduled for April 9, 2026.
