Speed Turns Fatal: Two Youths Die in Sonabarighat Bypass Crash

Two youths riding a scooter died on the spot after their vehicle crashed into a stationary truck at Sonabarighat Bypass in Assam’s Cachar district on Wednesday evening. The accident took place on the roadside stretch of the bypass, according to initial information received by the police.

Sources said the two youths were travelling at high speed on a scooter when they reportedly lost control and rammed into a truck parked beside the road at Sonabarighat Bypass. The impact threw both riders onto the highway, leading to their deaths at the scene.

Following the incident, police personnel reached the spot and recovered the bodies. The deceased were later sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination. Authorities have not yet confirmed further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The deceased have been identified as Surendra Roy and Supon Roy, residents of Bhuvandhar Tea Garden under Dholai police station in Cachar district. Further investigation into the accident is underway.

The incident has once again highlighted the importance of following traffic rules and maintaining speed limits while driving, especially on highways and bypass roads. Overspeeding, rash driving, and lack of caution near parked vehicles can lead to fatal accidents within seconds. Commuters are always urged to wear helmets, remain alert, and follow traffic guidelines to prevent such tragedies.
