Viral Video Shows School Vehicle Trapped on Silchar-Jayantia Road

A school vehicle got stuck in a muddy stretch of the Silchar-Jayantia Road near Dholchera Lokenath Sevashram, once again highlighting the poor condition of the road and the difficulties faced by local residents.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing the vehicle struggling to move through the muddy road during the ongoing monsoon season. Locals said the stretch becomes almost unusable during rains, making travel difficult for both vehicles and pedestrians.

The road falls under the Assam Mala Project, for which land acquisition had earlier been carried out. Residents of the area claimed that many people gave up large portions of their land for the widening and development of the road. They also alleged that the previous road was removed to level the area for the proposed work.

However, locals said that despite more than a year passing since the initial work began, there has been little visible progress on the project.

According to residents, the road remains dusty and hazardous during dry weather, while rain turns the stretch into deep mud, severely affecting daily movement. They said school children, office-goers, patients and traders regularly face problems while commuting.

Locals have repeatedly demanded immediate repair and completion of the road. Several protests and media reports have also highlighted the issue, but residents allege that no permanent solution has been provided so far.

The latest viral video has once again drawn public attention to the condition of the Silchar-Jayantia Road and the hardships faced by people living in the area.
