‘Left Bleeding Without First Aid’: Parent Files FIR Against Udharbond School
A complaint has been lodged with Udharbond Police Station alleging negligence by the management and staff of Saint Mary School at Dayapur after a Class III student sustained facial injuries on Wednesday.
According to the complaint filed by the student’s father, Roohul Amin Barbhuiya of Pangram Third Part in Udharbond, his son Ridwan Barbhuiya, a Class III student of the school, suffered a serious injury to his face during school hours.
The father stated that when he arrived at the school around 2 pm to pick up his son after classes, he found the child injured and bleeding. He alleged that despite the injury occurring inside the classroom, no first aid was provided and the child was not taken to any medical facility for treatment.
In the First Information Report (FIR), the father further alleged that the injured student was asked to stand outside the classroom while bleeding. He described the incident as an example of negligence on the part of the school’s management and staff.
Following the incident, the matter was reported to Udharbond Police Station. With police assistance, the child was taken to Udharbond Primary Health Centre, where doctors treated the injury, applied stitches and prescribed medicines.
Speaking to the media, a relative of the student alleged that despite repeatedly requesting a teacher to allow the injured child to sit down and provide him with water, no action was taken. He claimed that the child was allowed to sit only after he raised the matter with another school official.
He further alleged that the incident took place inside the classroom during school hours. Questioning the school’s handling of the matter, he said the responsibility for ensuring the safety of students inside the classroom rests with the school administration and staff. He argued that the school should take responsibility for incidents occurring under its supervision.
The student’s father also alleged that his son informed him that he had been beaten by two older students. According to the father, the child, who studies in Class III, said the alleged assault involved students from Class V.
Expressing concern over the incident, the father stated that his son remained without medical attention for a considerable period, which he believes worsened the injury. He has demanded a thorough investigation and legal action against those found responsible.
