Acting on reliable intelligence regarding the illegal transportation of narcotics in the Digorkhal area, police intercepted a truck during naka checking near Kalain Police Station. The operation led to the recovery of 170 grams of suspected heroin, with an estimated black market value of approximately Rs 1 crore.

The vehicle, a Tata truck bearing registration number AS 01 EC 2533, was signalled to stop as it was travelling from Digorkhal towards Kalain. Officers conducted a thorough search of the vehicle in the presence of independent witnesses and under videography. During the search, they recovered 14 soap cases containing 170 grams of suspected heroin. A mobile phone was also seized from the spot.

A preliminary Drug Detection Kit (DDK) test confirmed that the substance was heroin. The total weight of the seized narcotics was recorded as 170 grams. Apart from the contraband and the mobile phone, the Tata truck used in the commission of the crime was also seized under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

One person has been apprehended in connection with the seizure. The accused has been identified as Azaduddin, a resident of Natanpur under Kalain Police Station in the Cachar district. Authorities have confirmed that further legal action is being taken against the accused. The operation underscores the continued efforts of local law enforcement to curb drug trafficking in the region.
