JP Das Faces POCSO Charges Following FIR by Minor’s Mother

The Udharbond Police Station have formally registered a case against Dr. Jayanta Prasad Das, the owner of Parijat Hotel and Restaurant, following the rescue of three young women, including a 16-year-old minor, from his premises late on Tuesday night.

The official First Information Report (FIR) was filed by the mother of the missing minor, who alleged that her daughter had been held captive and forced into illicit activities at the hotel since March 2026. The complainant further stated that the hotel functioned as a hub for immoral trafficking under the direct supervision of JP Das.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rajat Kumar Pal confirmed that the investigation has been escalated significantly. The case is now being processed under sections 96 and 127 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with sections 4 and 17 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Furthermore, the authorities have invoked multiple sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, to address the allegations of organised exploitation.

During a press briefing, the AP member from Durga Nagar noted that the community had been instrumental in uncovering the illegal operations. The representative expressed strong support for the police action and demanded a thorough investigation into the hotel’s long history of alleged misconduct.

ASP Pal also referred to an earlier case in which the accused was allegedly involved in issuing fraudulent medical certificates and documents that enabled unqualified individuals to falsely present themselves as registered medical practitioners.

“We are conducting a comprehensive and strict investigation,” stated ASP Pal. “We are looking into every aspect of these allegations, including the medical credential reports. We will ensure that the law is applied rigorously and that all individuals involved in these illicit activities are held accountable.”
