Silchar Spa Crackdown Ends With Arrest of Main Accused
Cachar Police have arrested the two alleged masterminds behind the prostitution racket uncovered at two spas in Imperial Mall, Silchar. The accused, identified as Rupali Das, owner of Lovely Spa, and Rohit Debnath, also known as Hirak, owner of Lotus Spa, were arrested on Saturday night (July 11) after allegedly hiding at a location within the town.
According to police, the two had been absconding since a raid was conducted on the night of 25 June at Lovely Spa and Lotus Spa, both located inside Imperial Mall on Club Road. During the operation, police arrested 28 women on allegations of being involved in prostitution.
Cachar Additional Superintendent of Police said the two accused were traced after police received information about their presence within Silchar. “The two main accused who were fleeing for so long were caught. We received information yesterday of them being present within the town. Now they are apprehended and other procedures are ongoing,” the officer said.
Police further alleged that the accused were not only involved in operating a prostitution racket but were also linked to a human trafficking network. They have been arrested on these allegations and further legal procedures are underway.
The arrests mark a significant development in the investigation into the alleged prostitution racket that came to light following the June 25 raid. Police have not yet disclosed any additional details regarding the ongoing investigation.
