‘I Was Defending Myself’: Azhar Breaks Silence On Om Sai Gym Clash
Azhar Barlaskar, who was arrested in connection with the fight at Om Sai Gym in Udharbond, has claimed that he acted only in self-defence and did not attempt to murder anyone. Speaking to the media after the incident, Barlaskar said the gym manager hit him first and that he retaliated to protect himself.
Barlaskar said the dispute began while he was making a video inside the gym. According to him, he regularly makes videos at the gym and usually lowers the volume of the music while recording. He said he did the same on the day of the incident and informed others that the music was interrupting his video.
According to Barlaskar, there had been no problem when he lowered the music volume on previous occasions. However, he claimed that the situation turned hostile on this occasion, beginning with verbal exchanges.
He alleged that people at the gym made unpleasant remarks towards him and his video creation. He further claimed that the gym manager verbally abused him after the music volume was lowered, leading to an argument between the two.
Barlaskar said the argument intensified when the manager allegedly told him, “Outside we will see.” He said both men then went outside the gym, where the physical confrontation took place.
According to Barlaskar, the manager hit him first and he only retaliated in self-defence. He said the CCTV footage would show who initiated the physical fight and who struck first.
Addressing the allegations against him, Barlaskar denied that the incident amounted to an attempt to murder. He maintained that his actions were solely in self-defence.
The incident took place at Om Sai Gym in Udharbond, Cachar, and the gym’s CCTV cameras captured part of the confrontation. Gym authorities have earlier alleged that the dispute began over music being played inside the gym and that manager Pritam Deb was injured during the altercation. An FIR was subsequently lodged at Udharbond Police Station, and Barlaskar was arrested in connection with the case.
Police investigation into the incident is ongoing. Barlaskar’s claims represent his version of the events, while the circumstances surrounding the confrontation remain subject to the investigation and legal process.
