ASAR Foundation, Barak Dairy Support Flood-Affected Dairy Farmers In Cachar
ASAR Foundation and Barak Dairy Producer Cooperative Society Ltd. have joined hands under the “Let’s Stand Together” initiative to support flood-affected dairy farmers and milch animals across several villages in Cachar district during September 2026.
The initiative covered Kaptanpur, Chhotamamda, Ramnagar and Govindpur, besides reaching dairy farmers in the Binakandi and Sonai blocks, where floods disrupted livestock care and dairy-based livelihoods.
As part of the initiative, the organisations provided fodder and animal feed, medicines, nutritional supplements and veterinary care to sick, injured and vulnerable animals. The programme also collaborated with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary for foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) vaccination of cattle.
According to the press note issued by Barak Dairy, the floods left many milch animals without adequate feed, medicines, veterinary assistance and safe shelter, severely affecting rural families dependent on dairy farming for their livelihoods.
The initiative aims to protect livestock health, help farmers sustain their income and support the recovery of dairy-farming communities affected by the floods.
Ashangbam Swapan Kumar Singha, Secretary of Barak Dairy, said the initiative reflects a shared commitment to supporting affected farmers and strengthening livestock-based livelihoods through coordinated community efforts.
