Abu Mazumdar’s fake ST Certificate: Cybercrime lodges FIR against miscreants who made it viral in Mizoram

After Barak Bulletin exposed Wanted Criminal, Abu Mazumdar’s presence in the high-level meeting between Chief Minister of Mizoram Zoramthanga and Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, it became the word of mouth among the Mizos. Abu Mazumdar is a businessman and the photograph shows that he is sitting in the middle of the Mizo-delegates and enjoying dinner. Zoramthanga is seen in the host’s chair with Assam CM and Minister Atul Bora on one side and Mizo-delegation including Abu Mazumdar on the other side.

Since last evening, social media platforms in Mizoram are sharing an ST certificate that consists Abu Mazumdar’s photograph. As reported by PTI, today, the sub-divisional magistrate of Aizawl district, Lalvenhima filed the FIR which said copies of the fake tribal certificate, stated to be allegedly issued from the Aizawl deputy commissioner’s office were widely circulated on various social media platforms on Wednesday evening. He said that the certificate was forged and looked as if it was issued by a sub-deputy commissioner named Lalzorama Chhakchhuak. The sub-divisional magistrate urged the state police to take measures to ensure that the culprits behind the forged tribal certificate are nabbed and legal action is taken against them.

The PTI report as published by The Print, also adds that the state BJP quoting an MLA from Assam claimed on Wednesday that Mazumdar was part of the Mizoram team during the dinner and accused the MNF government of being “deeply involved” in the smuggling of areca nuts from Myanmar.

The PTI report added, BJP said in a statement on Wednesday that it had approached Jayanta Malla Barua, the secretary to the Assam chief minister and a lawmaker, who confirmed that Mazumdar was part of the Mizoram team during the dinner. Mizoram Congress treasurer and MLA Zodintluanga has also alleged that Mazumdar was a close ally of Zoramthanga.

Cachar Police, after acquiring enough evidence hung a wanted notice outside Abu Mazumdar’s house. He is allegedly involved in a several hundred-crore areca nut smuggling case. The nuts locally known as Supari are smuggled illegally from Myanmar to Mizoram and through Silchar, Assam, it is transported to various parts of the country.

Police sources informed that Mazumdar is one of the masterminds who operate the nexus and helps in smuggling the goods in exchange for crores of cash. He is currently absconding and Police is searching for his wherabouts.
