পিএইচডি এবং এমফিল কোর্সে ভর্তিতে আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের অগ্রাধিকার চায় আকসা
The All Cachar Karimganj Hailakandi Students’ Association (ACKHSA) has demanded additional weightage to the students of Assam University in case of admission in M.Phil and PhD courses at the varsity.
In a memorandum submitted to the vice-chancellor of the university Dilip Chandra Nath on Monday, the association’s adviser Rupam Nandi Purkayastha said the university was specifically established to cater to the academic needs of the students of Barak Valley who find it difficult to go outside for higher studies. As such, the university authority should consider increasing the percentage of weightage for students of this university, the memorandum said.
Purkayastha stressed that the percentage of weightage of PG marks for the university students be increased from 10 per cent to 30 per cent so that the students get admission in higher courses including M.Phil and PhD and can complete their education at the varsity itself.
Assam University, established in the year 1994, is the only central university in south Assam’s Barak Valley. It is located at Durgakona in Cachar district, around 20km from Silchar.
