Additional SP of Karimganj leads to confiscation of heroin worth Rs 4 crores from an Alto traveling through Mizoram

Karimganj Police is at it again. One of the most successful formations in the State currently, especially when it comes to combatting illegal transportation of narcotics, the Karimganj Police has apprehended three accused “Drugs Mafia”.

Based on secret information, Additional SP of Karimganj, Partha Protim Das along with Badarpur Police Station staff intercepted a Maruti Suzuki Alto (AS10 D 7320) at Badarpur. After conducting a thorough search operation, the team recovered 48 soap cases, each filled with suspected heroin. Upon weighing the consignment, the Police informed that around 621.14 grams of suspected heroin with an estimated market price of Rs 4 crore has been seized.

Apart from confiscating the consignment, the police managed to arrest three accused “Drugs Mafia” identified as Hussain Ahmed ( 20) s/o Lt Khalilur Rahman of Balia, Nilambazar, Islamuddin ( 18) S/O Lt Ataur Rahman of Balia, Nilambazar, and Abdul Latif ( 35) S/O Lt Rojab Ali Vill – Cheralipur, Badarpur.

“Further necessary action is being taken,” informed the SI of the Police Station.

Police sources informed that the Vehicle was loaded in the Champhai district of Mizoram. It is also believed that the consignment has its origin in Burma, suggesting the involvement of a multinational racket.
