
Administration makes wearing masks in public compulsory, prohibits sale of liquor, gutkha
The Cachar and Hailakandi district of Barak Valley on Friday, made it mandatory to wear mask at public places. An order to this effect was issued by both the districts. Violation of which will lead to prosecution under specified section of Disaster Management Act 2005.
“Everybody whoever comes out of their house has to wear a mask and its mandatory in public and work places. Sale of liquor, Gutka and tobacco is totally prohibited. Spitting in public places is prohibited” an order from Cachar District Administration mentioned. It added, violation of the order will be punishable as per section 51 of DM, Act and section 188 of IPC. “Anybody found doing so may be punishable under above mentioned act and will also have to pay huge fines. Strict implementation of this order has to be followed by all concern” the order mentioned.
Hailakandi Administration also issued similar order to bring this into effect. “An order issued to this effect on Thursday by Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli, also strictly prohibits the sale of all kinds of liquor, gutka and tobacco products in the district. Spitting in public places is strictly forbidden and shall be punishable with fine. Any violation of the order will result in prosecution under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005” a media statement from her office mentioned.
