After interrogating Runu Nath Cachar Police arrests Sudhir Das for assaulting doctor; DGP GP Singh monitoring the case

An on duty doctor, Rohit Daga, was brutally beaten by a person named Sudhir Das yesterday. The doctor was dragged out of the Primary Health Center and then punched, thrashed by Das alongwith his companions. The incident took place in Jalalpur Block Primary Health Centre. The visuals of the fight were captured on mobile phones by eye witnesses. The husband of Kushiarkul GP’s President, Runu Nath was later detained by the Police based on the doctor’s complaint as he was also seen in the video alongside Das.

Dr. Rohit Daga was on duty at the Primary Health Centre at night. Sudhir Das suddenly arrived at the health centre accompanied by his companions. Das and his companions got into an argument with the doctor over something inside the health centre. The situation became so egregious that Das dragged the doctor out of the health centre and beat him badly infront of other people. People present at the spot recorded the incident on their mobile phones. After the intervention of locals, the doctor was rescued from the clutches of Das.

The doctor later filed a complaint at Gumrah Police Station. Launching an investigation into the incident, the Police detained Runu Nath. Later Sudhir Das was also arrested by the Police for his active role in assaulting the doctor. Rest of the accused are still absconding. The incident has caused a strong reaction among the medical fraternity.
